July Adventures

In addition to our fun day at Dutch Wonderland, July held all sorts of other big happenings, outings, and milestones!

Daddy had a week-long workshop in NoVa, so we went down for a night to go out to dinner and stay at "daddy's hotel" where we went swimming in the pool, among other adventures. On the way home, Mommy and Isaac went out for breakfast at Founding Farmers and had a fun outing at Busy Bees in Chevy Chase. Also during that week, Isaac joined Mommy for a quick stop to Calvert where Mommy got her picture taken and dropped off paperwork, and Isaac got to see Kiddie Calvert and get a little tour of campus. He loved exploring all the plants and landscaping and hanging out in the gazebo. During the Mommy-son week, Mommy also took Isaac out for his first movie theater movie (Rio 2).

Isaac also enjoyed a weekend at Mommom and CharliePop's while Mommy and Daddy went away for Liz and Derek's wedding. One of their outings was to Bob Evans, where Isaac got to have strawberry pie for dessert. However, when the single slice of pie was brought out, Isaac was incredibly disappointed as he was expecting an entire pie, like what was pictured on the menu.

Helping himself to "a" slice of pizza...

We had a fun playdate at Abi's where Isaac had a blast taking turns driving Liv's jeep around the yard with Jarrett.

Mommom and CharliePop got Isaac a fun new inflatable pool that Isaac was so happy to "help" with...

For 4th of July we made our annual visit with CharliePop out to Grandma Ernst's and Uncle Tom's, with Aunt Felicia, Uncle Brian, Aunt Mary, and Uncle Eric.

An outing to the Science Center followed by 3 Bean, where Mommy ran into the father of one of her all-time favorite PPPCS students/families.

Random fun around the house...dot paint and yard adventures:

Perhaps the most significant event to take place in July was potty training! We followed our own version of the 3-day boot camp method. It was not for the faint of heart, but we stuck with it, and just like all things, Isaac was beyond ready for mastery - it just had to be on his terms. We spent 3 long days at home, doing everything in underwear...lots of snacks, treats, clean-ups, and Daniel Tiger app fun.

We had another outing to the Science Center, this time for Jarrett's birthday:

visiting with Mommom

A day trip to Chambersburg, PA for to see Lucia perform at a fun summer festival. This was our first big outing post potty training, and Isaac did a great job on the long car ride as well as going potty out in public, earning himself a "famella" (vanilla) ice cream cone.

Waiting patiently for his "snow" (Frozen/Olaf) balloon character.

He arranged these lamps together and said, "they're a family"

As a reward for being such a big boy, we got a fun new wooden playhouse from Costco. Isaac was a "huge" help with measuring and putting the house together.

Some more summertime lounging...

We ended the month hosting a playdate for Jarrett, June, and Jodi.
