First St. Patrick's Day

Since we have done a blog entry on all of Isaac's other "first holidays" it only seemed fitting to make an entry for his last first holiday of the year: St. Patrick's Day.  In all honesty the most we did to celebrate was put Isaac in a green pocket diaper and green pants.  Aside from that it was just a pretty normal day.  Mom-mom-mom and great Uncle Tony watched Isaac in the morning while Mommy played for a funeral. Then after a very short nap we spent some time in the backyard banging on the picnic table and trying to eat all the sticks and dead leaves.  Then we spent some time in the front yard watching the school buses pass by and trying to eat all the sticks and dead leaves. Our time outside on this beautiful day was a bit short lived due to the constant attempts to eat everything!

playing with magnets; that Patterson Park one is his favorite

Isaac usually naps twice a day, but today he got a bit off schedule and only napped for about 40 minutes so by dinner time he definitely looked exhausted (and super messy!).  After dinner Mommom Patti came over for a visit to help Mommy work on some birthday party crafts. 2 more days until our little guy is 1 year old!

On our way to Aunt Margie's yesterday Isaac caught sight of himself in his carseat mirror and seemed to really like the way he looked in his glasses (which he's keeping on somewhat, for longer stretches of time).

He had a fun day with Aunt Margie while Mommy taught her classes. Aunt Margie took Isaac on a nice long walk, and then Isaac played some more after lunch and even "helped" with some sweeping. He was pooped when he got home and looked super cute asleep in his crib with his butt up in the air.  This outfit used to be so big on him, but looks like this is probably the last time he'll be wearing it.

SSI's Last Week as a Baby

It's hard to believe that in one more week our little peanut will no longer be a baby, but a toddler. We spent this last week enjoying some long awaited sunshine and warmer weather, watching the last of this snow melt.  On Sunday we went to the Family Concert at Shriver Hall.  As soon as we got Isaac into the carrier for the walk across the Hopkins campus Isaac leaned his head back into the sunshine and warm breeze and just gave the happiest of smiles.  He enjoyed the concert too. Between listening to the music and observing all of the other babies nearby, he seemed to have a great time.

Daylight savings time has thrown Isaac off a bit and this week he's spent several mornings in bed with us after a very early wake up.  Luckily he would fall back asleep snuggled with Mommy and then in the morning (at a more reasonable time) he would wake up laughing to see Mommy next to him and then lean in to give her a kiss. Even though it's been a rough week of sleep for all of us, those super sweet moments have made it seem not so bad.

Isaac continues to find the curtains to be a great source for peekaboo, and loves the view from any window in the house.  Instead of doggy nose prints on our windows we now have Isaac face and fingerprints.  The other night during naked time Isaac went right to the floor-to-ceiling window at the end of the hall and stood there in all his glory.  Of course we had to take a picture, and just as Mommy had the camera ready Isaac nonchalantly looked back over his shoulder.  Here is a cropped out shot.

more peekaboo!

We picked up Isaac's glasses this week and while he won't keep them on for very long periods of time, we did get a shot of Allie trying them on.

Speaking of Allie, she hopped up on the couch and interrupted some cuddle time with Daddy.  Isaac was very happy to see her.

Here is Isaac making silly faces after nap time. He looks huge here!

Of course we have some more shots showcasing Isaac's huge appetite.  While he continues to try anything he definitely eats his fruit before anything else. He also makes some pretty silly faces when he sees Mommy getting out the camera.

Isaac is still working on his dance moves and has added a side-to-side head nod to his repertoire.  This is also how he greets Daddy in the morning.

Mommy made some wonton ravioli last week and while she did, Isaac contented himself on the floor for quite a long time playing with measuring cups and a colander.

As we are getting ready for Isaac's Teddy Bear themed birthday party next week we've pulled out all of Mommy's old stuffed bears and Isaac has really taken a liking to the koala bear. It makes him smile every time he sees it.

And today we had a long overdue visit with one of Mommy's oldest friends, Jen and her 2 daughters Gracelyn and Addison.  Isaac loved staring at and observing the girls.  He played with the sparkles on Addy's shirt and kept sneaking kisses to Gracie. They brought Isaac the cutest personalized teddy bear sleeping bag too, and we just can't wait for many fun times using it!

And here is Isaac waiting in the sunroom for our company to arrive. He discovered he could use the dachshund statue as a step stool.

[Laughin'] on a Prayer

Isaac continues to fill our days with lots of laughs and smiles.  One of the latest sources of entertainment are his new dance moves.  We first noticed them the other morning. Mommy had played something on her phone that had Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer" playing in the background and Isaac started rocking back and forth to the music and seemed rather disappointed when the music stopped.  We played it some more, and he continued to move to the music.  The other night at dinner he was doing it again to JJ Grey and Mo Fro (a band we saw when Mommy was first pregnant). He's done it many times since to all sorts of songs and singing, but seems to prefer actual rock music the most.

Here is a VIDEO of him dancing, and if you listen closely you may be able to hear him "singing" along too.

He's also full of laughs. As Mommy types this, Isaac is sitting in his crib while he should be napping and just giggling all over himself as he plays with the sunny spots and shadows on his crib mattress. It took him almost 2 hours of playing and somehow pulling a bunch of toys into his crib to finally fall asleep:

He also laughs and smiles when he sees pictures of himself and other familiar faces.  He laughs when he sees the dogs. He laughs when we kiss his belly. He laughs when shake our heads.  He laughs when we sings the ABCs. He laughs when we tickle him. He laughs for sometimes no reason at all. It's one of the greatest sounds in the world!

He had us in giggles last night as we gave him some naked time before bed. It was really funny watching him crawl around and then play peekaboo with Daddy from stair railings.

He continues to make his funny "angry face" in response to all sorts of things, including if we say, "Hey Isaac, smile!" or just walking in to get him after a nap.

Here's a VIDEO of him when he got up in the morning.  He's recently started jumping in his bed.

Yesterday while Mommy was getting a rag to wash his face and hands after breakfast Isaac manged to reach the curtain and wipe his hands on it.  This quickly turned into him discovering he could "hide" behind the sheer curtain and play peekaboo with Mommy.

One of his new favorite things to do seems to be climbing the stairs and staring out the window at the end of the hall. I know we posted about this in the last blog, but here is a VIDEO of Isaac staring out the window and laughing at the sights.  He also looks as though he may be planning his escape.

Today we are enjoying what will probably be our last snow day of the season.  We started the day with breakfast by the the fire...our first fire in our "new" fireplace. (Daddy did a great job cleaning up all the dust this week and getting the room back in order!) Then we played a bit in the fireplace room before going up for a morning nap.
