September Update

Before October gets completely away from us, here is a quick update on some of our September adventures.

There are a few video links sprinkled throughout this entry, but here are a few others that didn't quite fit in with the photo series. Here's a cute VIDEO clip of Isaac identifying the pattern of his cucumber-mozzarella "kabob". Before I started recording he was spot-on with labeling the ABAB pattern. Even though he gets a little off at the end it's still pretty cute the way he says "coo-cumber".

And here's the last bit of Isaac singing "You Are My Sunshine" before rolling over and going to sleep. VIDEO here.

Isaac, where are you? "I'm HERE! In da' leaves!"

Isaac started taking gymnastics classes at Sokol Baltimore. He loves anything that has to do with jumping/hopping and is pretty good at climbing and stretching (when he wants to be), but he's still pretty stubborn about tumbling. Occasionally he'll give it a try, but during class he's usually so amped up with his "inner bounce" that he can't seem to get his body still enough to focus on the form required to tumble.

We had a playdate with Jarrett & June (and Jodi!) at our house. Isaac was really happy to see his buddy Jarrett and was uncharacteristically fired up and "loud". Isaac and Jarrett both called Mike "Daddy", and here's a funny VIDEO clip of them both shouting to him, asking what he's doing (he's outside mowing the lawn).

We had a lot of nice weather amidst a long stretch of rainy days, so we tried to get out as much as possible.

Here's a quick VIDEO of Isaac jumping in one of the puddles he spotted.

We went to Olive Garden for dinner one night with Mommom & CharliePop. Isaac had randomly been asking for meatballs, so he was happy to have his very own (huge) meatball with his dinner.

off to the Linthicum Day Festival!

One Sunday after church we checked out the Remote Control Air Show. It was quite an impressive display and Isaac really got a kick out of seeing the miniature planes fly high in the sky, doing loops and turns, pointing with an excited, "WHOAAAA! Look at THAT!" When it came to taking a turn to fly a plane, Isaac got very upset when his name was called, so he wound up just watching Daddy take his turn.

Isaac got upgraded to some big boy bedding to go with his big boy bed, and he was so excited to climb under the covers the first night saying, "I love this bed!"

Doing some work on his laptop while watching morning cartoons.

Isaac has been playing hard and napping harder. Some afternoons he'll wake up fussy from a nap cut short, and when I go in there with him he has often cuddled up on me and fallen back to sleep! Here's a series of pictures of this little cutie zonked out, sleeping oh-so-peacefully. (If only he slept this well at night!)

Then there are the times when falling asleep has not come so easily (particularly at bedtime). These long sessions trying to get Isaac to bed often come with some moments of comic relief.

uh-oh! What happened here?

Isaac has loved "hiding" from us, except he is comically bad at it. He'll hide in a very obvious place, usually with at least his eyes covered in someway, and gets SO excited, rolling with laughter, when we pretend we can't find him. Even answering "I'm under here! In this ______!!" when we ask, "where is Isaac?"

This little climber helped himself to the perfect seat for watching the street workers.

Isaac definitely seems to have been hit with his parents' musical genes. He's always singing songs, either singing along with the TV or radio, or singing nursery rhymes, singing along with Mommy, or even making up his own songs. He can often be found with an instrument in hand. One day Mommy "caught" him with his guitar in hand, singing along to a song on Wallykazam. Here's a VIDEO (he stopped dancing when I came in.) And here's a VIDEO of him singing random songs on his own. It's a little incoherent at the beginning, but if you skip ahead to 1:25, you can hear him singing You Are My Sunshine.
