A 2017 Dutch Wonderful Day

There are still many updates to post from the past few months, but for now, here is a post about our recent adventure to Dutch Wonderland last week.

Isaac was very excited for our big adventure. "Which way is Pennsylvania?" and "Are we really there yet?" (his hilarious and fairly constant question that he asks in a tone of sweet disbelief on all of our longer car rides lately) were frequent questions during the drive up to Lancaster. Once we arrived we spent our first few hours before lunch just getting on as many rides as possible. Isaac was up for everything. He seemed to particularly love the Frog Hopper (VIDEO HERE) and it was extra cute how he started looking at the little girl next to him as they shared giggles over the thrilling ride. He also really loved the hot air balloon ride. His face lit up as soon as it took off, and Mommy got some good shots of his elated smile.

Around midday we headed out for a lunch and nap break. Isaac inhaled his lunch (he surprisingly didn't ask for anything to eat while in the park, despite walking past all sorts of "special treat" foods, and the fact that he eats almost constantly when we're at home) and then took a little power nap in the car while we drove around for a bit. We headed back to the park for more rides and some water fun. Isaac had a perma-grin explode over his face the whole time we were in Duke's Lagoon. He absolutely loved all of the water slides and went down the huge Pipeline Plunge several times with Daddy. VIDEO HERE

"Mommy, keep me warm and hold me like a baby!"

After changing back into dry clothes (pajamas for the win!) we then spent the rest of the time (until closing!!!) getting on more rides, hitting pretty much everything he was tall enough to ride at least one more time. The carousel and log flume were ridden many times. Isaac also seemed to be content letting Mommy and Daddy take turns with him on the rides, which as the long day wore one, we were both thankful for the little breaks - especially from Kite Flight (ouch). Isaac also spent a lot of time on the Wiggle Racers, riding his plasma bike, and having fun with some imaginary play as he zoomed around the mini obstacle course many, many times. Towards the end of the day Isaac became preoccupied with pushing the stroller all by himself, insisting "I am the only one pushing!"

Until next time, DW!

Isaac seemed to really enjoy his day at Dutch Wonderland. The only time he really didn't seem to be too happy was whenever Mommy tried to snap a family selfie. He became humorously cranky and uncooperative. Here is a little collage of some of his funniest expressions.

On the ride home we stopped at Chik-fil-A to grab some dinner and a "special treat" milkshake to share. Isaac fell asleep on the ride home, and transitioned to bed fairly easily. As Mommy left him in bed, he sleepily rolled over and asked, "are we really there yet?" as he fell fast asleep.

All About April

Well, long time no see! Things have been quite busy around here and catching up on the blog has fallen by the wayside. In an effort to play catch-up, here are some updates on what we can remember about April. Some May updates will follow...at some point!

Let's see...I guess the big event in April was Easter! Isaac excitedly gifted his teachers with some fresh eggs from our chickens (after being asked to share pictures and stories with this classmates!). Then Isaac helped Mommy try to recreate Mom-mom-mom's Italian cookies. He wasn't much help with rolling the dough, but he did do a pretty good job putting the sprinkles on. On Easter Sunday, after discovering the goodies left behind by the Easter bunny, we went to church, where Isaac was very uncooperative in getting a pictures in his adorable Jack & Janie outfit from Mommom. Then we hosted lunch or dinner...I can't even remember!...complete with marshmallow peep-tinis. And, here is a VIDEO from Easter morning

We had quite a few movie nights with Mommom and CharliePop too:

April held an assortment of other outings as well, such as a family dinner at the Iron Rooster where Isaac enjoyed sharing a homemade poptart, a visit to Kinder Farm, and celebrating Henry's 1st birthday at Helena's, where Isaac intently observed and took in the "X marks the spot" scavenger hunt, Pooh photobooth props, and decorating his own cookie.

Isaac has been really into "snuggling", so we had a lot of cozy time on the couch. He has also been demonstrating more an d more imaginary play, making bulletproof coffee in his kitchen.

While Isaac demonstrates with very grumpy meltdowns that he still benefits from an afternoon nap, getting him to take one is getting to be more and more challenging despite his signs of exhaustion. Here are a few videos Mommy got when he should have been napping:

(We had many attempts at trying to catch Isaac's "reading" of Brown Bear, but whenever I tried to film on "selfie mode" Isaac got really distracted watching himself, so this is the best version I've been able to record."
