Easter Fun

Since Isaac was only 1 month old for his first Easter last year we didn't really do too much besides buy him a cute seersucker suit to wear to family get togethers.  Here are a few shots from Easter last year:

This year he was able to have a little more fun.  On Wednesday Isaac dyed his first Easter egg with (brave) Aunt Margie and Declan.  He enjoyed eating it, his first hard boiled egg, for dinner that night.

Then he went shopping for his first pairs of shoes with Mommom.  We went to Stride Rite and he got measured and everything.  The sales clerk recommended size 4.5 wide, although we found a 4 wide was a better fit. We first let Isaac choose which pair of shoes he liked and he reached for a grey and orange pair of sneakers that look a lot like Daddy's shoes.  Once he had them on though he didn't seem to be a fan as you can see from the first picture below. Isaac finally decided on a pair of sandals for the warm months ahead and a pair of navy and white saddle shoes that looked really cute with his Easter outfit.

You might be thinking, "Isaac sure got dressed up to go shoe shopping!" Well, we also thought we'd get pictures with the Easter bunny while we were at the mall, so Mommy dressed him up in the cute seersucker suit Sandy got him for his birthday.  Turns out we were too early for the bunny at Bass Pro Shop, and the mall bunny was getting ready to go on his lunch break. So we improvised and snuck in a few shots with the automated bunny outside of the bunny hut.

Of course we also got pictures of him in his suit while we were at home too.

With this being Holy Week, Mommy has been busy pretty much every night this week with either extra long rehearsals, or services which means Daddy has been on his own for getting Isaac fed, bathed, and to sleep.  This is usually a two person job, but he's been doing great! He even sends Mommy photo updates to keep her posted.  Here is a funny one he sent her last night:

New Toys and New Tricks

The morning after Isaac's party Mommy couldn't wait for Isaac to see his playroom full of all his new toys, and anxiously got the video camera ready to document which toys he went to first.  Well, Isaac was more interested in the old floor cushion than anything else, and even when Mommy scooped him up and put him in his playroom, he turned around and went right back to the pillow on the floor.  When he finally stayed in his playroom he went to his old rocker that he hadn't used in months, climbed in and pulled himself up to standing and played with the toys hanging off of it.  Silly boy paid no mind to any of his new toys until Mommy actually sat him down with them.

hm, what to choose?

We finally had some warm weather so Isaac was able to get outside and play with his new water table.  He seemed to really enjoy it and there were several times he got so caught up in playing with the sailboats that he actually stood all on his own holding the boat (didn't get a picture).  He didn't seem to realize he was doing it though.

Isaac also had his 1 year well visit.  He's still in the 50th percentile for height and head circumference and 25th percentile for weight. He couldn't have been more relaxed when the nurse measured him, just stretched out on the exam table.

When we got home from the appointment, Isaac was having fun crawling all over the place, and somehow his pants had fallen down. Mommy caught a funny video clip of him with his pants down, playing chase with Allie and squealing with delight.

He still loves climbing the steps and staring out the window.

We got to spend some quality time with Liz over the weekend.  She was sick on the day of Isaac's party, so we got together when she was feeling better.  At first Isaac was quite mesmerized by her. He stopped eating his lunch and just open-mouth stared for a long time.  Then his stare slowly changed to smiles, and he then started doing a very cute head-tilt smile and would just hold that position until she looked his way and laughed. He did this over and over again.

This week Mommy had to go to her old school to drop off and pick up a bunch of things, so Isaac got to visit with some old and new friends.  He hung out with Debbie and her pre-K students while Mommy made a few stops. He was quite fascinated by all of the excited 4-year-olds surrounding him, as you can see from his intense staring.

Isaac has been really interested in sitting in our chairs.  It's very cute how once you put him in the chair he reaches out both arms to grab the arm rests. We are on the lookout for some Isaac-sized chairs that he can safely enjoy.

The other night while in the tub, Isaac started saying "Mama" in a very deep, creepy voice.  He did it for so long Mommy worried something was wrong and that he maybe had something stuck in his throat.  He then switched to loud, high pitched squeals and other silly sounds. So when he started doing it again, Mommy caught it on video.  He went from speaking in this demon voice to breaking into interpretive dance. Perhaps this was Isaac's first April Fool's joke.

We bought some new area rugs for different parts of the house, but once we got them home we decided we didn't like them enough to keep them. So once they were rolled up ready to be returned, Isaac (and Allie) were very interested in the large, plastic covered log in the family room.
