A Beary Special 1st Birthday Party

Isaac seemed to have a really great time at his first birthday party.  He was happy to see all of his family and closest friends and happily got passed from person to person.

Before most of the guests arrived, Debbie took some family pictures for us.  As you can see from the progression, Isaac had us laughing quite a bit.

Then when Jodi and Jarrett arrived we tried to get some pictures of the two friends together.  As always, Isaac couldn't keep his hands off of Jarrett, but he also couldn't stop kissing him either.  His new thing is giving kisses - especially to other babies and kids (as poor Declan has also gotten caught up in as well).

After mingling with all of his guests and opening a few early gifts it was time for cake!  Isaac didn't hesitate to reach out and get some finger-fulls of icing and the blueberry face.  He daintily continued to tackle the cake this way until Mommy cut him off a few slices.  Then we added some more fruit and meatballs to make it a more rounded meal.  Isaac couldn't have cared less about the 3 dozen people surrounding him, watching him eat, and taking pictures.  Mommy made him a special healthy cake with no processed ingredients or refined sugars. The cake was way too much for Isaac to finish on his own, so Mommy offered some slices of the healthy version to guests, and to her pleasant surprise, many happily tried and enjoyed some!

After cake it was time to open presents! With the help of big cousin Declan, he opened many great new toys, books, and cute outfits.

Aunt Margie got him a really cool push car that Isaac got to sit in while we opened some of his gifts, giving Mommy's arms a bit of a break!

He LOVED the hippo bank from his godfather. There was a shiny engraved panel that Isaac kept laughing at and kissing. It was pretty funny!

People always joke that at this age, babies/toddlers are more interested in the wrapping paper and packaging than the actual gifts. Well, Isaac was most interested in his birthday cards.  He sat contently as Mommy read them to him and especially loved the cards with a peekaboo feature.

It was hard for Mommy to take as many pictures and she would have liked (thankfully lots of others took and shared pictures & videos for her!), but here are a few shots of Isaac and his party guests.
