a BEES-y week

While Mommy was at her BEES summer camp (click on the link to see pictures of some of her adventures at camp!) for 11+ hour days this past week, Daddy got to take on the role of stay-at-home dad.  He did a great job getting Isaac out for all sorts of adventures, keeping him on his nap & meal schedule, and sending Mommy plenty of text and photo updates throughout the days.

They went grocery shopping, on lots of walks, swimming at aunt Kim's, and even stopped by the fountains at the inner harbor to meet Mommy while she was there with BEES. He seemed to have a great time wherever he went!

During the first week of BEES we had some house guests.  Ryan and his sons stayed with us during the week to help ease their long commute to BEES in the morning (they are living with family in Germantown for the summer while they wait to settle on a house). Isaac enjoyed having some other friends to observe and play with. Jimmy is in Kindergarten and Kaijir is in 2nd grade and he had a lot of fun watching them. They had fun playing hide-and-seek. The boys would hide and then call for Isaac, and he would crawl around the house laughing, trying to find them.

One night after BEES, Ryan treated us to a Taco Tuesday dinner at On the Border as a thank you. Yum!

"Hey Daddy, what kind of margarita are YOU getting?"

Check out this VIDEO of Isaac's latest hip/booty shaking dance moves (amidst some fake crying)!

And this weekend we went out for a family dinner date to Bella Napoli in Pasadena. We've been hearing great things about it and wanted to check it out.  It was pretty good! Isaac enjoyed himself as always, trying out some crayons for the first time, and munching on some of the freshly baked bread at the table.

He also continues to try and help out around the house.  The other day he wanted to help Daddy unload the dishwasher and he also tried wiping down the (already clean) coffee table.  And he's finding ways to get in some very tight locations, like in the corner between the radiator and his play pen. Mealtime also continues to be a pretty messy time of day, and even when he's strapped in his highchair we have to keep a close eye on him as his reach and curiosity grow each day.

Here's a video of him wiping the coffee table:

Happy Father's Day!

We had a great Father's Day weekend.

Earlier this week, Isaac worked on a tape resistant paint project for Daddy.  He did a pretty good job, and only tried to eat the (homemade, non-toxic, so technically edible) paint once!

On Saturday we hosted a steak dinner for Mommom, CharliePop, Grandpa Larry, and Grandma Jean. (Grandpa Larry said it was one of the best meals he'd ever eaten! Whoa!) Isaac tried eating corn right off the cob and actually figured it out pretty quickly.  Unfortunately when he was finished he dropped it on the ground where Allie picked it up and managed to eat in full. This resulted in a late night trip to the emergency vet after Mommy did some searching on the internet and found out how dangerous chewed corn cob actually is for dogs. Since it doesn't break down properly, once the big chunks reach the intestine it can cause a blockage which requires $3k surgery.  This could take months to happen, so fingers crossed all of the cob is now out of Allie's system and we're in the clear! Thanks to CharliePop for coming to the house in the middle of the night to stay with Isaac so we could drive through the flood watch storms and get Allie taken care of!

On Sunday morning, after Daddy opened his goodies from Isaac, we went to Kegs & Eggs at the Heavy Seas Taphouse and spent some more time with Mommom & CharliePop and also the Wickless's.  Isaac did a lot of one-handed walking around with Mommom. Seems like he'll be walking "any day now".
