Long time no see!

It's been a while since our last post and we are up to a few new tricks.

Despite a rainy and unseasonably chilly week, Isaac has managed to get in a good amount of water play.  He's been having fun splashing around in his water table, being squirt with the hose, and has recently started really going wild splashing and making waves during bath time. Isaac has also been enjoying throwing his toys out of the tub and looking expectantly at Mommy or Daddy to return them.  Staying hydrated is becoming an important hobby to Isaac and he's often found pulling his water cup out of his diaper bag and crawling around with it hanging from his mouth, or guzzling from Mommy's oversized water bottle (sometimes climbing on the coffee table to do so).

Isaac has been learning to brush his hair, turn the lights on/off, and read to Mommy.  He loves the 123 Baltimore book from Jodi, and has even started "counting" along with Mommy by tapping his hand on the pages.  It's one of his favorite books that he pulls off of the headboard in the morning to read.  He's also started to figure out how to climb down off of things like the bed and steps.  He is getting better with pointing to his head and toes, and has also been able to identify things in books such as duck, baby, flowers, and teddy bear.  And continues to shake his head "no" when told no, and very cutely shakes his head when we read books with the word, such as Hop on Pop. We also finally inflated the Rody Isaac got from Kelly & Steve and Isaac has been having fun trying to figure him out!

Isaac has been a big help around the house helping assemble our new dining table, taste testing Mommy's cooking, and keeping an eye on things around the neighborhood. He's also been helpful by continuing to take two 2-hour naps each day.

Isaac has had a few fun outings the past few weeks.  He got to meet Mommy's college friend, Rob, when we met him for lunch in Alexandria. While Daddy was taking Isaac out for a walk to see the ducks they had a bonus visit with Sandy & Buddy who were outside as they passed by.  Isaac had a sleepover with Mommom & CharliePop (but no pictures to show for the blog since they didn't send us any...ahem-ahem). We also went to Shepherdstown this past weekend for Lucia and Josie's graduation party.  We made them some fun Dorm Room Survival Baskets. Unfortunately Mommy & Daddy both slacked in taking pictures while we were there, so we only have one shot of Isaac in his new whale pj's on the ride home.  Oh, and we got to drive to Shepherdstown in our Isaac's brand new Subaru Outback that we also got this weekend! And of course, we've also been having lots of swing time.

Mommy finally found Isaac a mini Adirondack chair and also got him some pinwheels.  Isaac gets very excited whenever he sees pinwheels, flags, and balloons.

Even though he isn't walking yet, he still continues to become more and more of a handful! Isaac gets more curious and fearless as the days go on.  He is proving to be quite a climber (as evidenced in several pictures above).  He is also getting more and more interested in "taking things out".  For instance, while playing in his crib the other day, Mommy noticed he got suspiciously quiet. When she went to check on him she found he had been reaching through the slats of his crib and pulling the freshly folded diapers out of the basket into his crib. When Mommy caught him he handed her a diaper (he's been handing us things like diapers, toys, and food too).

This is the last known sighting of our alarm clock remote. It disappeared shortly after this picture was taken. We now have to rely solely on Isaac's 6:11 wake-up call.

Isaac has been learning how to pet the dogs (i.e. not to open-hand smack) and Allie rewards him with kisses when he's being gentle.  These two have also been doing a cute forehead-to-forehead touch that Mommy has not been able to catch on camera yet.  Our silly boy definitely keeps us laughing in many ways...his silly faces, his contagious laugh, his mouth-carrying of toys...the list goes on!
