15 Months Old

The months keep trucking along, and each day Isaac entertains us with some new trick or funny reaction to something.

Due to Mommy's summer camp and some other summer work, we won't make it for his 15-month well visit until he's closer to 16 months! So we will check back in in July with his actual stats.  But from our rough calculations, Isaac is about 21 pounds and 29.25 inches tall.

Isaac is still getting some breastmilk throughout the day when possible, but also almost always has a cup of almond milk or water in hand.  Or, both! He has 14 teeth with a 15th and 16th starting to pop through. He still loves to eat, but definitely has his preferences and opinions. His new fun trick is smugly dropping handfuls of food on the floor when he's decided he's done eating or that he wants to be hand-fed by Mommy or Daddy.  He also said "'nana" the other day when Mommy asked him if he wanted a banana! He continues to make a huge mess of his whole head while eating.

After a visit with Grandpa Larry this past week, Isaac started showing an interest in learning how to snap. He was mesmerized by the snapping sound Grandpa made with his fingers and very cutely tried to mimic him and snap on his own.

He also does the motions to "Open, Shut Them", although he's been a bit camera shy when trying to document this for proof. Don't mind the poor singing.

We went to Patterson Park last weekend to check out the mud pit obstacle course of the Kinetic Sculpture Race.  It was a very hot day, but Isaac enjoyed seeing the different sculptures, giving his 4-finger salute as they passed by.

The dogs have been more and more patient with Isaac as he continues to explore how to interact with them.  He LOVES playing chase with them.  Sometimes he will crawl away while they happen to be walking in his direction, and he laughs hysterically as it seems like they are coming after him.  Then there are times when he turns the tables and crawls after them, laughing all along.  In the morning the dogs go into the nursery and strategically place themselves so they can see us when we get up and also so we have to walk over them to get to the baby. (They seem perpetually nervous that we have forgotten breakfast.)

Isaac has been continuing to help out around the house.  Mommy often brings him into the kitchen in the highchair and talks him through her cooking steps.  The other day he helped make a cauliflower-crust pizza. It was delicious! He has also helped us keep our cabinets organized by pulling containers out so we are forced to straighten them up in order to put them away. He's checking out how strong his toys are by attempting to climb on top of/in things like his water table. And he's also testing out our hardware, trying to open doorknobs and such.

Mommy had one of the worst migraines of her life last week, which made caring for a curious toddler extra challenging. Luckily Isaac was very cooperative with Mommy's activity choices to keep Isaac from running around and getting into too much trouble.  He had a good time playing piano from his highchair for quite a while.  He had a very interesting and intentional technique, sometimes banging, sometimes playing gently with just one finger, and other times getting his feet involved. He had so many great expressions, it was hard to choose just one picture.

Speaking of faces, Mommy has been noticing a trend in Isaac's "rockstar face" that he makes all the time, particularly (but not only) when he sees a camera flash go off. So she made a little photo collage of this goofy expression.
