Repeat After Me

Sweet Sir Isaac is starting to really show progress with his spoken language development, adding new words to his lexicon daily, surprising and entertaining us greatly. He'll repeat many words we ask him to say, and also repeats what he hears. He's showing us that even if he hasn't said the words until recently, he has really been taking in a lot with his observations. When Daddy was getting Isaac ready for church the other day, he asked Isaac if he was ready to go to church to see Mommy and Ms. Barb. Isaac responded, "uh huh...Ying?" showing he understood that church is also where he sees his friend Ms. Ying.  Later in the day when we were recapping the day's events and mentioned how he went to church and saw Ying, Isaac added, "Barb" so as not to leave out his favorite pew companion.

Isaac is also stringing together two-word phrases with some of our favorites being, "uh-huh, Mommy", "night-night, Daddy", "more egg", "I know", "happy boy", and "milk, please".  He gets very happy to see his favorite Sesame Street characters and asks for them by name: Elmo, Abby, Zoey, and Cookie [Monster].

Over the weekend we went to Irvine Nature Center where we met up with Moe, Melissa, and Myra and their little ones.  Even though it was cold, Isaac loved going on the nature walk and seeing the owl, and had fun with his friends.

We also had a play date with some of our library friends at the bounce house. While Mommy thought for sure Isaac would love jumping around in the inflatable houses because of how much we need to stop him from jumping on the bed, he mostly enjoyed exploring the toys in the play area and running the length of the room.  He also enjoyed observing his friends and the other kids playing and was just so happy the whole time.  Even without bouncing much, he zonked out for a very nice nap once we got home.

There's been some fun (and mess!) in the kitchen with Isaac helping with mixing and rolling.

Isaac has been really upping the ante on his bedtime stalling techniques, with Daddy being his biggest target.  He's been extra cuddly popping up to standing instead of letting Daddy get him dressed, and just snuggling in for a super sweet (and very long) hug.  He also insists on more and more books each night, with Baby Led Weaning still being one of his main go-to's.

Isaac has been enjoying sharing books during his visits with Mom-mom-mom (of course not until he has begged for an apple, and/or some other sort of snacks).

And while Mommy was making breakfast the other day, Isaac managed to completely strip out of his pj's and was pretty proud of himself for surprising Mommy in only his diaper.
