A Busy April!

We told him "no snack" since it was almost dinnertime.  He helped himself to a snack, shoveling in cereal by the fistful!

It's been quite a busy month for Sweet Sir Isaac and blogging has sort of fallen by the wayside. From Opening Day, to house guests, to a wedding, and many outings and fun around the house in between, Isaac has had an exciting April keeping us entertained and on our toes.
Mommy told Isaac to show Daddy his new hat.  His response was "boots on!" And then he headed downstairs, telling us "bye!"

Isaac celebrated his 3rd Opening Day like usual, with his grandfathers coming over for hot dogs.  This year we also had Steve, Buddy and Brandon join us.  Isaac had his first hot dog and wore his "big eyes"/Minion O's shirt.

Isaac got to crash Mommy's girls night with Liz and Debbie, and we had a fun time with the bubble machine Liz brought for Isaac's birthday.

We had a fun time at Kelly & Steve's gender reveal party a few weeks ago.  Both Mommy & Daddy left their phones at home, so we didn't get any pictures, but Isaac had so much fun observing and running around with all of the little kids that were there.

This weekend Isaac got to have a sleepover at Mommom & CharliePop's so Mommy and Daddy could tackles various projects around the house. It's amazing how much you can get done in a day when you aren't entertaining a toddler! Here's a picture of Isaac listening to an Elmo read aloud.

We've had quite a range of weather this month. We've taken advantage of the handful of sunny days.  One day we took a walk on the BWI trail to see the horses and blow bubbles while we watched the planes take off.  Isaac was so content sitting on a bench trying out his new bubble wand, saying "uh-oh, try again!" if his attempt didn't result in any bubbles.  He met a few caterpillars and seemed a little unsure about them.  He is definitely curious and interested in observing them from a safe distance, but is quite offended when they get too close.

While out running errands one day we discovered a new playground with a cool triple slide, giving Mommy and Isaac a chance to slide side-by-side, holding hands. Here are some (bumpy) videos of Isaac enjoying the playground all by himself. VIDEO 1 and VIDEO 2.

Any chance Isaac gets, he requests to "play outside".  He loves exploring the yard, riding his trike, and attempting to make wishes with dandelions.

make a wish!

One of his new favorite indoor hobbies is playing guitar.  It's one of the few things he can spend almost an hour doing (even though this has actually resulted in some gnarly finger blisters!).  It's so fun to watch him as he explores pitch and even sings while he plays. He's been singing "Row, Row Your Boat", "Baa Baa Black Sheep", and is getting better and better singing his "A, B, C, D's" (as he calls it).  He has sung A through J, and then skips to WXYZ and a rendition of "now I know my ABC's, next time won't you sing with me." It seems like Isaac might be balancing out the family band if he continues with this interest in guitar! Here is a VIDEO CLIP of one of his earlier gigs. One of the first things he does when he comes down in the morning is "play guitar" while Mommy gets breakfast together.

Isaac has been getting much better with being gentle with the dogs.  He no longer grabs at their face and ears, but points out (without touching) their nose, eyes, ears, and gently pets their bodies.  He still likes snuggling in their dog beds with them, but has gotten better about back flopping on top of them, and instead snuggles near them.  They seem to enjoy his company more, too.

Isaac loves seeing his church family each week, and sometimes as a special treat he's gotten to join the choir for the closing song.  He knows who he's going to see each Sunday and spends the morning listing everyone, "Jim, church...Barb, church...Ying, church...Mary, church...etc."!

We are finding that with a toddler, there are no dull moments during waking hours, as evidenced below.

When we leave for Sandy's each Wednesday he has had requests of things to take/wear on our way out the door. One week it was his bunny ears, another it was his fedora.

he just hopped on the computer, seeming to know exactly what he was doing
checking things out, pointing out the people, trucks, cars, school buses, and birds
hard to see, but he's sitting backwards on his bus, with his arms in my boots
Insisted on eating with "Farmer John" one night. Here his is force-feeding him a carrot.

A few weeks ago he discovered his shadow. He thinks it is SO funny!

Mommy had a little visit with Jodi this week and got to meet little baby June! So tiny!!

And perhaps our biggest event since our last blog entry was a special visit with the Sibleys from Florida! They stayed with us for a long weekend, coming up for Aunt Mary's wedding in Havre de Grace.  It was our first time meeting little 9-month-old Liam.  Isaac was a very good host to his cousin, "L'im" as he called him (Dana joked he said it as if he was in a big hurry).

On the night they arrived we had CharliePop and Mommom over for dinner. Mommy got to try out her her new KitchenAid attachment to make homemade pasta aglio e olio, some Tuscan-style meatballs and a yummy new garlic bread recipe.

Isaac was happy to have a new playmate and for the most part, was really good about sharing his toys with his cousin. Whenever we came back home from an outing he asked, "Liam home?". After the Sibleys headed back to Florida the "Liam, home?" questions continued. It took almost a full week for it to sink in that Liam was back home in Florida.

playing on the "phone" (if you ask, it's always Debbie calling!)

Isaac got to get all dressed up to go to his first wedding.  Aunt Mary and (Uncle) Eric got married on April 23 in Havre de Grace.  Isaac was a social butterfly at the reception, floating around to everyone (most of which were strangers to him) and happily showing off his 'spenders.

Taking some family selfies before the reception. Isaac looks humorously and disproportionately huge in these pictures.

Isaac "feasted" on CheezIts and bottled water, being a bit picky and uncooperative eating the lunch Mommy packed.

On their last day, Mommy kept an eye on Liam for a little bit while Dana and Chris took care of some packing. Tried to get some shots with the cousins, but it was a bit challenging getting both babies to participate! In closing here's the sequence of sunny selfies...
