"Angry" Face

For the past few weeks Isaac has been making a really entertaining face that we can only describe as a fake, exaggerated version of his upset face. He intentionally looks at you and opens his mouth wide and scrunches up his nose and just holds it for a few seconds.  We can't figure out exactly why he's doing it, but it's definitely on purpose! At first he started doing it during meal time when his tray was empty, but then we noticed it more often at other times too. Sometimes he does it if we say "can I have a kiss?", or if we tell him, "no", or, hilariously, if we say the punchline of a corny joke (last night he did it every time I said "wok-in closet" -- long story) but other times it's seemingly out of the blue. Either way, it's pretty entertaining. He's definitely not upset as he makes the face between laughs and smiles, but looking at these pictures you may think otherwise!

Here is a VIDEO of Isaac giggling over Mommy saying "yummy" while trying to get him to eat his yogurt (hence the white yogurt lips in the video).

Isaac has been interested in the dogs more than ever, going out of his way to see what they're up to, and laughing and smiling when they get close either to hop up and get scratches from Mommy or to give kisses to Isaac. The other morning when we were cuddling in bed, Allie hopped on top of Isaac and started licking his hands.  Before Mommy could stop it Isaac started giggling nonstop. Then he grabbed Allie's head and pulled her close so Allie could give his face kisses! This caused even more laughing until grossed-out Mommy had to put an end to their fun!

Bathtime is still a fun time for Isaac.  Now that we've moved to the big tub he hasn't been splashing around as much, as he's been more interested in his massive surroundings and exploring how to move through the water, sometimes trying to take a sip (yuck). So Mommy and Daddy have to be even more alert than ever! After bath time last night Isaac was having a lot of fun watching Daddy in the mirror as he made silly faces behind him. As you can see, our big boy has outgrown his cute hooded baby towels and can now use a regular bath towel.

Mealtime continues to be one of Isaac's favorite times of the day. We are still completely amazed at how much food he actually eats.  And boy does he love fruit!

Isaac LOVES playing peek-a-boo with Daddy while he does the dishes on the other side of the counter. Here is he trying to spot Daddy, then smiling ear-to-ear when he finds him!

Isaac seems to be enjoying books more and more (there was a time when all he wanted to do was put them in his mouth).  He really likes looking at the pictures, particularly when there are real photographs of faces.  He's even responding to "turn the page" and really loves "Good Night, Maryland" that we got from Jodi.

Isaac is getting faster and faster with his crawling (too fast!) and more sturdy with his cruising.  We are constantly rearranging things to keep out of his reach and discovering areas that need to be baby proofed.

Seconds before this he was playing quietly in his playroom!

"Hey Mommy! Are you sure it's naptime?"

Checking out the dogs' bed

Isaac has been amazingly mesmerized by the balloons leftover from Mommom's party. (PSA: Dollar Store balloons are the best, not to mention cheapest balloons around! Over 2 weeks later they're still floating to the ceiling!).  We get a good 30 minutes of entertainment at a time just pulling the balloons to the ground and watching them float to the ceiling.  It's really fun watching Isaac's amazed reaction to this shiny, gravity-defying object.

And, here is Isaac looking cuddly and adorable in a snuggly bear suit borrowed from Declan:
