Working Hard & Making Messes

Thanks to some snow days the past few weeks we've been able to tackle a few home projects, with Sweet Sir Isaac's help of course.  We added a glass shelf in front of our kitchen window to have a place for plants and knick-knacks.  And our big project this week was updating our orange facade, brass insert fireplace. With our 100-year-old house the task was a bit more involved than we originally expected, but Daddy and Grandpa Larry did a great job...with Isaac overseeing as project manager. The whole job took six work sessions: one for sanding and painting the brass, one for painting the orange walls gray, and four sessions of cutting and laying the AirStone.

Isaac is turning out to be quite the climber, giving Mommy several heart attacks a day with his adventurous spirit and endless curiosity.  In the first picture, Isaac climbed into his rocker all by himself.  That process was difficult enough to witness. However, shortly after this picture was taken, Isaac continued moving forward, head first over the edge landing on his stuffed animals and then crawling the step out of his playroom.

Isaac also enjoys climbing on the platform of his highchair.

He continues to prefer his music table from a birds-eye-view.  Today he positioned himself just one good push away from standing on the table.  Can't take your eyes off of this guy for a second!

Perhaps our favorite climbing moment from the week was after Isaac hiked up the full flight of stairs again, he victoriously crawled directly to the window at the end of the hall and enjoyed the view outside.

He loves looking outside. We can't wait for warmer weather so we can actually enjoy more time outdoors.  Here he is enjoying the view of the snow:

Isaac is also starting to figure out how to sort some shapes in his elephant shape sorter.

Enjoying his photo book...

He continues to love to eat and wow us with his appetite.

We finally got around to ordering Isaac's glasses this week. We had a hard time choosing the style that looked best...Harry Potter, or college professor? We think he looks cute in both!

We struggled a bit with a few nap times this week, with Isaac preferring to just hang out and play instead of sleep.  There were a couple times this week when Mommy thought for sure he had fallen asleep, only to peek in his room and find him standing in his crib just smiling and then jumping happily if he spotted her.  Better yet, when she went to check on his nap status the other day, not only was he standing up and smiling, but he had also managed to take his pants off and seemed quite proud of himself.

Ah, asleep at last...
