Back to School

Mommy and Daddy both went back to teaching on Monday and it sure has been a busy, tiring week so far! Mommy's course load has more than doubled since last semester, and now that she needs to leave earlier, she doesn't have Isaac's morning nap to take advantage of for getting everything in order for the day.  Everyone has been getting up bright and early this week between 5-6am.  Mommy nurses Isaac while Daddy showers, then Mommy gets in the shower while Isaac plays in his crib and Daddy feeds the dogs before heading to Mt. Washington.  This helps give Mommy some time to give Isaac breakfast and take him on a morning walk before dropping him off at Aunt Margie's or Sandy's by 8:30. But it sure makes for a tiring and busy morning and Mommy has been ready for a nap by the time she even walks out the door!

Prepping breakfasts, planning outfits, and packing lunches & bags the night before have been crucial for making sure our mornings are as stress-free as possible.  Here is everyone's "back to school" bags. Can you guess whose is whose?

The weekend before school started we went to Daddy's new school to help him finalize details for his first day.  Isaac had a great time walking the long halls and stubbornly climbing up and down the steps.  He also enjoyed helping out in Daddy's computer lab.

As mentioned above, the mornings before school have been eventful.  We've gone on many walks, spent time outside, and also gotten into some trouble in the house.  All before 8am! One morning Mommy found Isaac in his room surrounded by books and socks that he had pulled down off the shelves.  When Isaac saw Mommy he actually started putting the socks back in the box they belonged in. Here's a VIDEO:

Speaking of trouble, Isaac also went a little crazy with the toilet paper in the guest bathroom. He proudly came all the way out into the hallway and into the family room with a stream of toilet paper.

And one morning while playing outside, Isaac finally did something he's been curious about for weeks and ventured out into the ivy, and he would not come out! (for some reason ivy gives Mommy the creeps, especially with bare skin being exposed! Who knows what's crawling around in there!) To get Isaac out Mommy had to go outside the yard and pick him up from the other side of the gate.

Out for some early morning walks:

Early Mornin' Explorin':

Where's Isaac?

"Look what I found!"

Going for a waterless dip in the pool:

Daddy has been making these helicopter "beaks" for himself and Isaac. Apparently this was a "thing" when he was a kid.  Mommy's never seen this done before. Anyone else?

Isaac has discovered his nostrils. More importantly, he has discovered his nostrils can assist in making funny sounds and that plugging his nostrils makes his "voice" sound funny. Dinner time just got even more interesting.

Daddy and Isaac had a little drum session last night. Here's a VIDEO.

Right before bedtime Daddy always comes in to say good night, and Isaac has been giving some really sweet goodnight kisses when he grabs Daddy's face and pulls him in.  This is a bit of a closeup as I took the picture while Isaac was in my lap.

And just a few more shots of happy Isaac in his saddle shoes...
