19 months old

Isaac is now 19 months old.  He's getting more and more adventurous and bravely attempting to master more physical skills.  He insists on walking down the steps "like a big boy" and he's good about waiting at the top of a full flight of steps to hold Mommy's hand, but he's been practicing shorter sets like the stone steps down to the backyard and on the playset at the park all own his own.  He can also now climb onto Mommy and Daddy's bed, the piano bench, dining chairs and chaise lounge with little to no struggle.

he acts like he really knows what he's doing with all of the keyboard settings...

Speaking of doing things on his own, he also prefers to wipe down his highchair tray after meals, and brush his teeth by himself and is very particular about which books we read and when.

He spends half of mealtimes pointing at this bowl of gourds and pumpkins, insisting they are "apples"

This weekend we got to spend a very cold Fall evening in Shepherdstown for Aunt Karen's nice backyard wedding.  Mommy's fingers were too cold to get too many pictures, but Isaac had a great time playing cornhole with Maddy, being tossed in the air by Uncle Mike, playing piano with Josie, and just being otherwise very social and happy to spend time with anyone, including complete strangers. He had a great time being reunited with his now new cousins, Ty, Nyla and Jonah as well.

One of Isaac's new favorite outdoor activities is running through piles of leaves so we spent some time on that this past week.  Isaac had a few playdates this past week too.  We got together again with Isaac's library pals at the Linthicum playground where Isaac walked right to the top of the big slide, and would've attempted to walk down if Mommy hadn't caught him right in the nick of time...twice! We also went on a hike on the Trolley trail with some other MOPS kiddos. Isaac really wanted to walk in the river but it was just too chilly. And of course, Isaac visited with Mom-mom-mom and great Uncle Tony this week too.

And earlier this week Mommy and Daddy celebrated our 3rd anniversary.  Mommom & CharliePop came to the house to watch Isaac so we could go out to dinner at Langermann's.  Isaac did wind up waking up shortly after Mommy and Daddy got back home, but went right back to sleep in Mommy's arms and cuddled on the couch until everyone went up for bed.

Isaac has been trying to "share" his food with the very patient dogs. One day while eating a cracker, he kept offering a bite to Allie, who was outside on the other side of the sliding screen door. Allie licked at the screen, Isaac would laugh, take a bite, and then offer the cracker to Allie again. Then last night while eating a piece of celery he had both dogs' full attention as he took a bite, bent to offer a bite to Allie, then Lady, and then back to himself. Gross dog germs, but a cute sight nonetheless.
