1 month old!

Wow! Mr. Isaac is one month old today! It is amazing how our life has changed this past month with the wonderful addition of Isaac. We celebrated with a 1-month photo shoot and dinner at Mommom Patti's and "Grandfather Charles'" where Libby was able to warm up to little I a bit more.

Here are some highlights from his "photo shoot" (those long skinny legs crack me up!):

"enough already!"

Later in the evening we had a delicious pork dinner made by Mommom Patti along with a few stops by the Easter bunny. We're still not quite sure what Libby thinks of Isaac as she barks like crazy whenever anyone is standing up with him. Maybe Libby isn't even sure what she thinks of him yet. She was definitely a lot more curious about him than the last time she was around him.

Out and About

There have been a few "firsts" this past week.  On Sunday night, Mommy left Isaac home alone with Daddy for the first time while she played piano for a TAIZE service. It was the first time she had even driven since Isaac was born. Everyone handled this very well!  Then on Monday Mommy took Isaac out to visit Mom-Mom-Mom and aunt Margie all on her own! On Tuesday Isaac had physical therapy for his torticollis (which is basically a big overworked muscle in his neck that apparently looks a lot worse than it really is). After that, Isaac got to see Mommy's school and meet the nice ladies that work in the office while she went to take care of the fish tank in her classroom.  Then Mommy, Daddy and Isaac went out to lunch for the first time as a family at Venti Tre, a new Italian place in Canton Crossing.

Mr. Isaac wasn't too thrilled at first about going to Physical Therapy.

Other than that, we've just been trying to get into more of a routine and enjoy this last week before Daddy has to go back to work. Daddy has been getting a lot of work done in the yard in between laundry and making dinner on the grill.  As Isaac gets bigger he has been able to expand his wardrobe options a bit.  It seemed like he was wearing the same few newborn outfits for a while, but now he is starting to be long enough for his cute 0-3 month clothes.

One of Isaac's favorite things lately has been checking out his Daddy. He loves staring at him and reaching out and feeling his chin.

Allie continues to love her new friend Isaac.

And, Mom just keeps taking pictures of Isaac looking so peaceful and content while sleeping...and is gradually capturing more shots of Isaac with his eyes open too. (still trying to catch him smiling with his eyes open! It has happened, but Mommy has been too slow with the camera.)

Keep on Moving

Everyone is the house is chomping at the bit for some warmer Spring weather! There were a few nicer days over the past week that we took advantage of to go on some walks so Isaac could check out his neighborhood. The first outing was just Mommy, Daddy and Isaac.  Then we added Allie and Lady to the mix a few times.  Isaac really enjoys moving. He even seemed to enjoy the occasional bumps we hit on the sidewalk.  Isaac also really enjoys riding in the car. However, help us when we have to stop at a red light because Sir Isaac makes it very clear he does not like it when the car is not in motion!

As Mommy's pain has been getting better she has wanted to do more around the house, so we tried out the baby carrier the Wickless' got us.  For her first baby-wearing task she did some long overdue baking.  Once Isaac got settled he seemed to enjoy being in the kitchen with mom.

Isaac is still less than thrilled about bath time.  In this picture it almost looks like he is giving Mommy a not-so-nice hand gesture to express how he feels.

Everyday Isaac is a little more aware and observant of his surroundings and much more vocal.  The other night he seemed to be having a full out conversation with the dogs before bed time.

Still wearing a few of Mommy's old outfits.
This one is a little out of season, but we couldn't resist. (Mommy was 9 days old for her first Christmas)

Two Weeks Old!

It is hard to believe Isaac made his grand entrance 2 weeks ago! And a busy 2 weeks it has been: full of visitors, sleepless nights, and surreal happiness.  Daddy has been doing an amazing job taking care of Mommy and the house chores as she's still in recovery mode from her surgery, and Mommy has been doing a lot of feeding and trying to capture as many moments in pictures as she can.  Isaac has just been busy being cute and making us smile.

We're all still trying to figure out the whole nighttime/sleep thing, as Isaac still seems to be most awake at night.  We currently have Isaac in a co-sleeper bassinet between us and of course his guard dogs can't leave his side, so they find space at the foot of the bed (and sometimes on the pillows between Mommy's and Daddy's heads). 14 legs in one queen bed attempting (or, hoping) to get 2-3 hour chunks of sleep. It has been interesting! Can you see that perfectly good dog bed in the background?
Isaac circa 3am - don't let the drowsy eyes fool you. He has no plans of sleep!

Isaac's umbilical cord fell off and he finally had his first real bath yesterday. He hated it! He did love sucking on his clean little hands afterwards.

We have also started trying out cloth diapering during the day to practice getting the hang of it. Even our newborn-sized covers seem to be huge on him at the moment.

Speaking of clothes, while Isaac isn't going to be able to make use of Mommy's old dresses that Mommom Patti saved, there are a few other sleepers and things that he's been able to wear from her 1982 baby collection.  Here he is in one of her old sleepers (looking a bit like Elvis with that collar):

Isaac got to meet his other great grandmother, Grandma Ernst and great aunt Gina today:
92 years apart and instant pals

And of course the dogs continue to stay wherever Isaac is.  Here are some more shots of them cuddling close to Isaac. (I swear I am not always on the couch!)

And to wrap up the 2-week spread, a few shots of Sweet Isaac snoozing away (during the day of course):

Gah! Those toes!
