8 Months Old

Our little guy is now 8 months old! Where is the time going?

At 8 months old, Isaac:

  • is still breastfed and has tried all sorts of solid food a la Baby Led Weaning and seems to have liked everything we've put in front of him
  • is approximately 16.5 pounds and 26.75" inches (we will get a more accurate update next month when he has another well visit)
  • takes 2 naps a day and is still on an unfortunately irregular nighttime sleep schedule, getting up anywhere from 1 to 4 times at night
  • has the following bed time routine: reading a book, splashing in the bath, getting jammies on, being breastfed while Mommy sings "A Life That's Good", bedtime prayers, and then down in his crib around 7pm
  • goes to Physical Therapy about once a month and has been told he's progressing wonderfully
  • is starting to "reach out" for Mommy and Daddy
  • moves around by rolling, pivoting on his belly, and drag-crawling. He also likes to "walk" while Mommy holds his hands.
  • loves to laugh and is just starting to be amused by peak-a-boo
  • still doesn't take a pacifier in the traditional sense, but he sometimes plays with one and explores it like it is some strange toy
  • shows the degree of his excitement and happiness with squeals that he uses his whole body to express
  • makes us laugh and smile all the time
  • is starting to discover the intended purpose of his touch-and-feel books (and isn't trying to eat them quite as much)

Today was also diaper laundry day, and Isaac enjoyed checking things out while Mommy set up for the photo shoot.

As expected, our monthly photo shoots get more challenging each month.  Isaac was being pretty silly and rather uncooperative.  I tried getting VIDEO footage, but he stopped making his silliest sounds as soon as I hit record.

All of the "smile" shots turned out blurry, so here is Mr. Serious:

It's hard to tell, but he is making really silly squealing and grunting sounds while these pictures were being taken:

Then I added his buddy Allie to the mix:

We also did our traditional shoot with both dogs. Talk about challenging! Most of the pictures have 2 of the 3 parties looking at the camera.

By the time I finally got the dogs to cooperate Isaac discovered his tie, trying to eat it and therefore ending the photo shoot.

Later in the day, Isaac played in his playroom like usual, and both dogs joined him.
