It's a bird! It's a plane!

We've been trying to pack in as much fun as possible this last week before classes start up next week!

We've checked out a lot of parks this week. On Monday, Daddy's last day before a week of Professional Development, we checked out the brand new Cross Street Park

Then later in the week, Mommy and Isaac went to Kinder Farm Park for the first time since Isaac started walking.  He had a great time giving Mommy many heart attacks with his overly confident playing at the playground.  He seemed to think he could walk up and down the stairs "like a big boy" and walk down slides (sometimes attempting to go head first), and this was of course what he wanted to do over and over again, and it was hilarious when Mommy would "freak out" at his close calls. He also liked seeing the animals, and loved pointing out every plane that flew overhead (there were many) and watching the windmill.

Since we finally bought an AA County parks pass, we decided to check out Downs Park the next day. What a cool place! Isaac had a blast on the 2-5yo side of the playground, especially on the seahorse rocker.  Then we went on a long walk to check out the rest of the park.  We had a great time sitting by the water and watching the waves crash, and walking to the dog beach.  Isaac spent the most time "off the path" checking out trees and leaves, and walking back and forth between a pair of particularly interesting bushes.

It's hard to tell, but at several times during the walk, he would stop and do a little dance. This was one of those times.
Water break!

Later that day we had a surprise visit from Grandpa Larry.  Isaac loved showing off some dance moves with his sing-a-long Elmo book. Grandpa Larry pointed out he had a different dance for each song in the book. Here's a VIDEO.  And while Mommy was changing Isaac's diaper she told Isaac that Grandpa was there to see him, and several times he said what sounded like a cute version of Grandpa.

We also had a visit with Mom-mom-mom and Great Uncle Tony this week.  Isaac loved reading his new ABC book from the library and playing peekaboo at the front door with Uncle Tony, and being super silly with Mom-mom-mom's neck pillows.

And of course there's been fun at home inside and outside.  Even at home Isaac loves nature and going off the beaten path.  He has started keeping a "nature bowl" that he keeps all of the items he finds that mean Mommy won't let him eat, such as rocks, pine cones, pine needles, and mulch. (but that doesn't stop him from trying when Mommy turns her head for a second!) He has also been overly curious about checking out the many areas of ivy around the house.  The other day he "accidentally" fell in a patch of ivy and just relaxed until Mommy came and helped him up.

Check out this awesome leaf!

frolicking (literally) through the yard in his sandals and short sweatpants:

Mommy made some homemade playdough (using this recipe, but don't be fooled! It definitely takes more than 4 minutes!) that she thought would be a fun indoor activity. Isaac was kind of interested in playing with it, but his desire to eat the playdough outweighed his desire to play with it, and then he dropped a bunch on the floor and Allie ate it, so the playdough "fun" was short lived.

With our refrigerator fiasco and slowly restocking all the groceries that were lost, we've been getting creative with our meals and trying some new things.  We ordered some yummy veggie noodle meals from Hungry Root. Here's a picture of Isaac enjoying the rutabaga noodles with roasted mushroom pistou and ground beef (although our favorite was for sure the carrot noodles with tangy sriracha peanut and chicken!)

delicious homemade hamburgers and Isaac's first choice food was corn on the cob:

yummy healthy, homemade peach cobbler (recipe here):

Isaac also got some time in with Mommom and CharliePop while Mommy sorted through some things from the basement.  Isaac enjoyed reading one of Mommy's old favorite books with Mommom, the interactive finger puppet book, Patrick and the Hungry Puppy.

Isaac gets more helpful by the day. He is still loving the handheld vacuum and is actually becoming useful with his technique (VIDEO HERE).  He is also starting to put his toys away when asked.  And he even tried helping Daddy with his tech troubles the other night.

this hectic, fuzzy pic sums up life around here pretty well

In closing, some random and sweet sleeping shots.  He's just such a cute little sleeper!
