First Beach Trip

On Monday, Mommy and Isaac joined some friends for a last minute day trip to Rehoboth Beach. (Daddy had PD. Boo!) Mommy drove while Randy and Debbie kept Isaac entertained on the ride down.  Isaac's first long car ride was pretty pleasant, especially considering his earlier days of terrible tears if the car ever went under 50 mph (driving through the city with all the lights was torture!)

When we arrived we met up with Ryan, Lauren, Tailiyah, Jimmy and baby Billy for lunch at the Rehoboth Ale House.  Isaac was a perfect companion, staying peaceful in his car seat so Mommy could eat with two hands.  What a treat!

Then it was off to the beach where Lauren, Mommy, Isaac & Billy relaxed in the "sand tent" away from the sun, escaping for a bit for Isaac to get his feet wet in the ocean and toes in the sand for the first time.  It was a beautiful and perfect beach day! Lots of laughs, smiles and fun!

Hanging out in the tent enjoying smoothies that Mommy brought along

first time putting those toes in the sand!

Still can't get enough of those fingers...

Isaac always has fun with Debbie!

Isaac and his new BFF Billy. It's hard to believe that on next year's beach trip they'll be having fun toddling around together!

After dinner at the Pig & Fish, we headed home. Isaac soothed himself to sleep and slept the whole ride home.  We took a quick bath when we got home and Isaac slept solidly for another 6 straight hours! The beach must have really wiped him out!

Isaac was a great travel companion and we're looking forward to our next trip!

PS: We officially have TWO sharp little bottom teeth!

[twice] the man I used to be

At Isaac's 4 month checkup this week we found out he has more than doubled his weight since birth, coming in at 13 pounds 6 ounces in the 30th percentile for weight and 24 3/4 inches long in the 50th percentile for height.

Aside from our doctor's visit, we just had a pretty relaxing and (unseasonably) cool week of summer. We checked out a concert in the park at Patterson Park, went to Babies in Bloom at the library, read some books, relaxed on our new deck furniture, and chewed on lots of fingers! We'll let the pictures explain.

so excited for bath time!

We've been doing a lot of drooling

Mommy's been hard at work preparing food for Isaac's Baptism

Allie continues to sneak in Isaac kisses

Daddy is still a favorite place to nap

While we're not sleeping through the night, we are sleeping well

Mommy's hands are becoming more interesting

...and delicious!

a bit of a goofball!

Still loving playing on my gym...

Don't let his face fool you...he loves our new deck furniture too!

books are good to read...

Just an overall happy guy!

4 months old

Good morning! "Sweet Sir Isaac" is 4 months old today!

Each month has honestly gotten better and better as Isaac just keeps growing and developing and getting sweeter by the day. He is getting into a really fun stage where things are starting to become more interesting and amusing and there have been more and more bouts of laughter which Mommy thinks is just one of the absolute best sounds in the world.  Isaac's name means laughter and we are looking forward to many laughs together in the future.

A few favorite shots from our 4 month photo shoot:

And of course, Allie's monthly photobomb. Too funny!

We started the day with our monthly photo shoot. Then after our morning nap we went to Chazz with Liz and Derek for Isaac's first brunch outing.  Isaac did a great job just sitting and being cute while the grownups chatted, and chimed into the conversation whenever he had something valuable to add.
Isaac was really amused by Derek's dancing fingers

Then we came home for another nap, but after Isaac had a cat nap on the car ride home he couldn't be convinced there was more sleeping to do so he just laid in his swing peacefully until Mommy caved and took him out for some more playtime.

A few firsts!

A few unrelated but equally exciting milestones this week!

Isaac went for his first "swim" this week. Although to be honest, since we used a little inflatable pool on a sloped lawn the pool didn't fill up completely so it was more like a cold bath in his new swim trunks. We'll try again on a flatter surface next week after Daddy finishes repainting the deck. Then we should be able to get the pool deep enough for some actual splashing around!

don't make too much fun of our pitiful pool

Mommy also noticed the first little tooth cutting through Isaac's gum right before nap time this morning.  Even though with breastfeeding Mommy was kind of hoping those teeth would come as late as possible (ouch) it was still a pretty exciting discovery! (no photo proof just yet)
You can't see it, but there's a teeny tiny tooth behind that morning smirk

Another "first" this week has been some naked playtime.  Mommy read in one of her baby development apps to try to give Isaac some time to play in his birthday suit and Isaac sure does love having a chance to kick those legs around without the burden of a diaper!

"Mom, you're embarrassing me! I sure hope you crop out my little tush before you put this on the blog"

I'm not sure if Allie wanted to play too or if she just wanted to show off her new haircut...

Yet another first, Isaac fell asleep while playing and laying on his back. This was one of six naps of the day (he usually takes 3). I guess teething is pretty darn exhausting!

AND Isaac started holding his daily bottle all by himself! Well I guess it is less holding and more strategic balancing, but still...

HELP: Mommy has taken quite a few adorable video clips of little Isaac, but for some reason there is an "upload error" when she tries to add them to the blog.  Do any of our readers out there have any tips on why this is the case? They are videos taken on an Android and then saved to a PC.  Thanks in advance for any insight!
