Rubber Ducky, You're the One

After the excitement of the first day of school Isaac had a pretty normal rest of the week.  If it's possible, he seems to get cuter every morning with the happy good morning smile and giggle he greets Mommy or Daddy with every day.

He is really close to being able to sit up on his own.  Right now he can sit up while leaning forward, or straight up with just a very little support.

We had some actual summer weather this week.  One of the first days to get over 90* since mid July (we've had such a beautifully mild summer!). So Daddy and Isaac took a little dip in the pool with the dogs.

Isaac continues to enjoy catching up with Daddy after a long day of teaching.

Isaac is starting to enjoy some new forms of entertainment like his rubber ducky during bath time and figuring out his doorway jumper(s).

And of course still enjoying as much outdoor time as we can even on some of these cool crisp mornings we've been having.

All this talk about Isaac may seem like our fur babies are being left out. Not to fear, they are still just as loved as ever.

Mommy really got into a cooking groove this week and tried out a lot of yummy new recipes like a West African Peanut Soup, cucumber caprese salad, cucumber sandwiches, BCT's (bacon, cucumber & tomato sandwiches), cucumber bread, and chicken parm pizzas with a "crust" of fried ground chicken. Meals that didn't have cucumbers as the main course had a side salad with cucumbers.  Our cucumber crop did a little too well this year!

only a fraction of our cucumbers...and they're still coming!

First Day of School!

loving his new Bay Bridge onesie!

Today was the first day of school for students so Daddy had a big day and needed a good night's sleep. So of course Isaac woke up about five times between 9pm and 1am. Finally Mommy took him downstairs to sleep in his swing while she slept on the couch so Daddy could get a few good hours of sleep.

"My Dad Rocks!" -- yes he does!

While Daddy was teaching Science to 5th and 6th graders, Mommy and Isaac went for a lunch/play date with some of Mommy's work friends who were also on maternity leave with their new babies. Isaac was the oldest of the newborns Quinn, Lily, and Jarrett, but there were also some fun toddlers to observe: Mason and Anna.

When Daddy got home Isaac was SO excited to hear all about his day.

Wow Daddy, that is really fascinating! Tell me more!

Oh Daddy, that is so funny!

 Tee-hee-hee!

my hands are SO delicious! nom nom nom

Dachshund days of summer

Well summer vacation is almost officially over and Daddy will be returning to work for his twentieth-ish year of teaching. Mommy will be mostly staying at home with Isaac (she will continue to be the music director at St. Clement's and will also be teaching a course at CCBC and giving a few piano lessons).

We've been enjoying this weather and spending a lot of mornings out on the deck, "poolside".

On Saturday morning Isaac lead an important early morning meeting of the dachshunds. (Lady is in retirement so she didn't make it to the meeting.)

Cheering on the O's with Daddy and visiting with Mommom:

This week Isaac went "swimming" twice.  He revisited his inflatable pool on the deck for a little splashing around.  Then on Sunday he also went swimming in a real inground pool! We went to Mrs. Ying's for a swim and some delicious homemade Chinese and Thai food.  The Wickless's were there too so we were able to talk about our camping trip coming up in a few weeks!!

Hmm...toe dip or belly flop?

just chillin' in Mrs. Ying's pool

Isaac spent some more time at church sitting with Daddy while Mommy played piano. He got a fun new toy - a homemade stuffed dog. Isaac seems to really love it! Especially the nose! It is as big as he is!

Isaac is becoming a bit more mobile in his crib and more times than not Mommy finds him in a totally different position than where she left him.  He is also getting better at holding some of his bottles.

He was asleep on his tummy the last time I was in there!

We'll end with a montage of good morning faces:
