sleeping peacefully when Mommy left on Monday

With Mommy working at BEES (Baltimore Environmental Explorer Summer Camp) this week, that left Daddy at home to take over as stay-at-home dad.  Up until this week, Mommy had only been away from Isaac for a few hours at a time so she was feeling a little nervous about leaving him for 10 hours!

Allie helped keep an eye on Isaac too. She always places herself just in arms-reach.

Daddy and Isaac seemed to have a really good week with a nice combination of relaxing at home and getting out of the house for some errands, walks, and visits. Daddy handled everything really well from all the diaper changes (and diaper laundry), to getting dressed and keeping Isaac well fed. Daddy also did a nice job sending Mommy updates and pictures throughout the day:

Mommy had a lot of fun on all of the BEES trips but really missed her time with Isaac. It was hard leaving when he was still asleep in the morning and then only having about an hour with him when she finally did get home. Just one more week of camp for Mommy and then they should be able to have some more family time the rest of the summer!

First Summer Weekend

The Ernst Rest family enjoyed a fun and productive first weekend of summer.

On Friday Daddy got home just as Mommy was playing George Winston's "Lullaby" trying to lull Isaac to sleep. Isaac almost always falls asleep when Mommy wears him while playing piano. This was the first time using her new ring sling and it was much easier to play piano with this on compared to the other baby carriers we have.  

On Saturday, after some family errands, Daddy explained the World Cup to Isaac. Then we went to "Dads, Drafts & Diapers" at Greenberries where we enjoyed free pizza and beer and checked out some cloth diapering and babywearing workshops. Daddy got fitted for the Ergo baby carrier to help prepare him for his 2 weeks home alone with Isaac.

Then on Sunday after church, Isaac and Mommy visited with Mom-Mom-Mom. Then back at home where Mommy prepared for her week at camp, Daddy did yard work, and Isaac enjoyed some gym time grabbing onto things and staring at himself in the mirror.

3 months old!

Wow it is hard to believe Isaac is 3 months old now! We survived the "fourth trimester"!

After our good morning smile session in bed, we started the day with some tummy time after changing into our adorable new Little Monsters elephant diaper cover.

Then we changed into our "tie" for our traditional monthly photo shoot. To get him to look up at the camera Mommy had to hold up a mirror to get Isaac's attention.

After the photo shoot and morning nap, Isaac spent some time at his gym. Today was the first time he looked at something he wanted to grab. With some help, he held on to the rings of his elephant and swung it back and forth. He did this several times. This probably sounds pretty uneventful, but it's pretty amazing for Mommy and Daddy to see Isaac do these new "tricks". Later in the evening we met with Mrs. Ruthie to talk about Isaac's Baptism.  As Mrs. Ruthie was leaving and saying her goodbyes to Isaac he gave her his first ever belly laugh.  It was an absolutely adorable sound and Mommy can't wait to hear it again and again.

Summer Vacation!

Summer vacation is exhausting!

Today was the first official day of summer vacation. It started with cousin Sandy babysitting Isaac so Mommy and Daddy could go on a morning bike ride together, along with Debbie.  Then everyone just enjoyed a relaxing day staying cool inside.

Father's Day

Daddy celebrated his first official Father's Day this year. He went to the Oriole's game with all the dads: Poppop Charlie, Grandpa Larry, cousins Buddy, Brandon, Corey, Tim, and Mr. Buddy. Then all the guys came back to Sandy's house where the ladies had prepared a yummy dinner for everyone.  It was a really nice day.

The dogs were invited to Sandy's too. At home they never bother Isaac's things, but as you can see, both of them took advantage of Mommy having her hands full feeding Isaac to hang out in his bed and play with his toys (Lady doesn't even play with her own toys!)
